For this weekend’s song to end the weekend I’m trying something new, I have provided not the usual link but the embedded YouTube video of the song in the body of the posting itself. It’s ‘Stutter Rap (No Sleep Till Bedtime)’ by Morris Minor and the Majors, a novelty group headed by Morris Minor, real name Tony Hawks (not the skater, the chap who went around Ireland with a fridge) and with Rusty Wing and Phil Errup, (in case you haven’t caught on, these are not their real names, which happen to be Paul Boross and Phil Judge). The chap with the blue hair who suffers for being noisy is John Deacon from the band ‘Queen’. I’m afraid I have been unable to discover who plays Mum.

It’s a satire, supposed to be a British version (The Toasty Boys) of the Beastie Boys in general and their record ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’ in particular. It’s also almost a one-hit wonder, and would classify as one if they band hadn’t had another hit, exclusive to Australia, called ‘This Is The Chorus’, parodying the Hit Factory’s Stock Aitken and Waterman.
Fun fact ; Tony Hawk wrote and starred in the 1989 BBC television comedy ‘Morris Minor’s Marvellous Motors’. I used to enjoy watching it, it actually got me in front of the telly. And no one has heard of this except me.* I’ve asked people and they frown a bit and say ‘yeeesss’ when really they mean ‘no, no, stop hassling me, go away! I’ve not heard of it’.
Yes I know, it could be considered as mocking the stutterers/stammerers of this world, but well, I’m a clutterer, which is someone who talks too fast and gets her words mixed up so I have my own speech impediment and I think this is funny and clever, with a great beat. It takes me back to when I was still young (twenty-six that year) and mostly healthy.
Anyhow, as always,
Enjoy, and,
A good week whether no one has ever seen what you mean since the age of thirteen or not.

*I KNOW it’s mentioned on the IMDb, but who knows, I might have stuck it up there myself, in my never-ending battle (?) to prove to others it existed.
