I’ve just finished most of my packing (over a hundred bags with at least twenty books in each bag)* and now I can sit back and have a drink of tea and a bit of a relax and a read.
This will probably be the last posting in this blog til at least Wednesday, due to the Internet service provider not being able to hook me up to the new place til midnight on Tuesday so I will give you the song to end the weekend on now.(Well, it is Sunday now therefore the last day of the weekend). And the song is ‘Nothing Ever Happens’ by Del Amitri, from YouTube again.
I know it’s supposed to be about the futility of life in Thatcher’s Britain** but the lyrics all reminds me of the time when I worked nights, the whole idea of day workers finishing and then you setting off to beginning your day watching and working when everyone else is not functioning.
I would have been off to work at this time and miss them bloody days so much, when I was of use.
So, as always,
Enjoy and,
A good week, even if nothing ever happens or it happens too much for you.
*The Family are of the collective opinion that I’ve got too many books. My reply: It’s impossible to have too many books. and anyhow, no one’s making you collect ‘em.
**I was once pals with a rabid True Blue Thatcherite (I know, I know, but in this middle-of-the-road fair-goes-for-all Lib Dem’s eyes, it’s no worse than being pals with a violently Red Socialist) and he hated this song with a passion, so much so that I made sure it wasn’t available when he came round.
